Magma Art

‘lets lock horns to produce a website as awesome as their product’ was the common theme around the FM water-cooler.
When Magma Art came to us in late 2009 we were literally attracted to the pulling power of their awesome magnetic art products - see what we did there? We love creative cats so it was a no-brainer - ‘lets lock horns to produce a website as awesome as their product’ was the common theme around the FM water-cooler.
Magma Art is a new concept in art design where art has taken a stride into the interactive realm reaching out to a mass market from kids to old fuddy-duddys. There’s a whole range of ways that people engage with the artwork, but basically it’s a magnetic canvas where people can flex their creative side, making their own designs which can change with the seasons or mood and ultimately create an interactive and conversation piece.
The idea with the Magma website was to create an eCommerce site that was an interactive interpretation of the brand, without giving away too much of the interactive nature of the product online to entice the site user to purchase their own to play with.
Being an arty bunch themselves, Magma provided plenty of welcome input into the design style while we took on the interactive concept development. Essentially, this was a very client orientated collaboration, but as a whole, this project was done entirely in-house.
The end result was a highly visually enticing eCommerce website running on a Kentico CMS. Our team built in some quite nifty custom eCommerce functionality that sits on top of the basic Kentico platform that lead to a flexible website that works for Magma and sells.
Since the launch of magmaart.com we’ve continued to engage with Magma to provide digital strategies - particularly in the ever growing and exciting social media space. Our Magma Art piece continues to evolve on the office wall and is still hot property when it comes to those water-cooler natters.
